Jantar Mantar (Yantra - musical instruments, mantras - formulas) was created in 1724. Maharaja Jai Singh from Jaipur who built the center went on to build other sites in Ujjain, Varanasi and Mathurra. Jai Singh found that the existing space instruments are too small to take the correct measurements so he built these large and very accurate instruments.

How to Reach to the Jantar Mantar, Delhi
Jantar Mantar is located on Parliament Road, it is very easily accessible. The nearest Metro stations are Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk and Janpath Metro station within 1 km. You can book an autorickshaw or a taxi from outside the Metro stations. Alternatively, you can also select a bus. The Palika Kendra Bus stand is located outside the entrance gate of the Jantar Mantar.
