About Chittor Fort

The Chittor Fort or Chittorgarh is one of the largest forts in the State of Rajasthan India. It is a UNESCO(United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)United Nations based in Paris, France... World Heritage Site. The fort was the capital of Mewar and is located in the present-day town of Chittor(Rajasthan) India. 

What is Chittorgarh famous for?

Chittorgarh used to be the capital of the Sisodia Dynasty of Mewar At Rajasthan. The most alluring factor of this city is the Chittorgarh Fort(Rajasthan). Famous for the Jauhar that Rani Padmini and Rani Karnavati underwent during the siege, the Chittorgarh Fort has seen a lot of valiant battles.

Who made the Chittorgarh fort?

 the fort of Chittorgarh was constructed by Chitrangada Mori of the Maurya dynasty way back in the 7th century A.D. Later, Bappa Rawal(Mewar region in Rajasthan), the founder of Mewar dynasty, made Chittorgarh his capital in India.

SRTC is the nearest bus stand. There are both private and state-run bus services to Chittorgarh. From Udaipur to Chittorgarh it takes around 2 hours of time.

Udaipur Airport also called the Maharana Pratap Airport is the nearest airport to Chittorgarh. Some of the airlines that operate in and out of the airport are SpiceJet, Air India, Jet Airways, and Indigo. It operates flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata among other cities.

History of the Fort

In ancient India, the place where the chittor fort is currently present was known as Chitrakut. Due to the ancientness of this fort, there is no clear evidence supporting the origin of the fort. There is, however, a bunch of theories that are still subjected to debates.  Bhima Kund, an artificial tank next to the fort, was where the legendary reservoir once sat, it is said.It is believed that this army was mighty enough to defeat the famous troops of Arab, who were considered imperious on a battlefield back then.
